In 2010, INNOCEAN Worldwide(INNOCEAN) became the first Korean advertising company to produce Super Bowl ads. The agency has proven its creativity worldwide once again with many record-breaking achievements in the Super Bowl ad competition on February 7.
With its ad, created by INNOCEAN Worldwide Americas(IWA) topping USA Today's Super Bowl Ad Meter, Hyundai Motor Company became the first ever non-American brand winner. Moreover, it is also the first Automaker to achieve a top place in Ad Meter. INNOCEAN achieved unprecedented results with three Hyundai ads, which all placed in the top 10 in the same year.
Thus, INNOCEAN was able to hand the client two new records, the first non-American and automaker to earn the top spot, since USA Today first started taking the annual survey in 1989. In the long history of the Super Bowl ad competition, only seven American brands have been chosen as winners: American Express, McDonald's, Pepsi, Nike, Budweiser, Snickers and Doritos. Since 1999, Budweiser and Doritos have been dominant leaders.
The Hyundai ad, chosen by Ad Meter as the best among all brands, is titled "First Date," a 60-second spot aired just before the kickoff. In this ad, Kevin Hart plays the role of a dad who uses the GPS feature of Hyundai Genesis to track where his daughter and her boyfriend are going during their first date. This spot earned high praise for demonstrating the state-of-the-art capabilities of the Genesis through a comedic story and Hart’s hilarious performance.
Another Hyundai ad, "Ryanville," aired during the second quarter and took fifth place in Ad Meter. This ad shows what it’s like to live in a neighborhood where all men look like the Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds. The sixth most popular spot, a 30-second ad titled "The Chase" aired during the first quarter of the game. It shows a thrilling escape scene of a group of people running away from wild, talking bears.
INNOCEAN has been prominent in the Super Bowl ad scene since its debut in 2010. In 2014, the company led all automakers with "Dad’s Sixth Sense," taking the sixth place overall. "Team" came in ninth in 2013 and "Cheetah" reached seventh place in 2012.
