■ New annual business platform connecting brands with global filmmakers to launch this year
■ Building on Night Fishing, INNOCEAN expands beyond advertising and marketing into film and content
■ INNOCEAN to lead content development, project selection and production while pursuing new content- and IP-based business models
INNOCEAN (Global CEO Jung A Kim) is making a full-scale push into global content with Cinema by Brand, a new initiative in partnership with the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM), Asia’s largest content market held during the Busan International Film Festival. The platform will connect brands with filmmakers worldwide to develop and produce original film content.
[Beyond Advertising: Expanding into Film and Entertainment as an Annual Initiative]
Drawing on INNOCEAN’s expertise across brands and content, Cinema by Brand puts entertainment value and creative quality at the center from the outset rather than simply turning conventional advertising into film. Global filmmakers will submit original proposals that interpret a participating brand through their own cinematic perspectives and storytelling.
The selected project will typically enter at least six months of production and could be released as early as summer 2027 in theaters or on global streaming platforms. The annual, year-long process covers brand selection, global creator briefings, project development and selection, production and release, enabling INNOCEAN to build sustainable IP, support global distribution and broaden brands’ content and IP options.
[The Success of Night Fishing Validates the Model, Bringing Global Talent Together for the Next Breakthrough]
Cinema by Brand builds on the potential demonstrated by Night Fishing, the short film INNOCEAN produced with Hyundai Motor Company last year. Korea’s first cinematic branded content to receive a paid theatrical release told its story entirely through cameras installed on a vehicle. The 13-minute film, priced at KRW 1,000, attracted 46,000 paying moviegoers nationwide and drew attention in Korea and abroad for its innovative production and original storytelling.
Night Fishing won the Grand Prix at Cannes Lions 2025 and the Best Editing Award at the Fantasia International Film Festival, validating a model in which a brand can be experienced as standalone entertainment rather than advertising. INNOCEAN now plans to combine its brand communication and creative capabilities with the film industry’s production ecosystem, turning that one-off success into sustainable content and IP business opportunities.
[Korea’s First Collaboration with ACFM Opens the Door to Filmmakers from 55 Countries]
ACFM brings together directors, producers and other film professionals from 55 countries. Through Korea’s first collaboration of its kind with ACFM, INNOCEAN developed Cinema by Brand to support both brand and film-industry growth, positioning itself as the coordinator connecting the two worlds and leading the process toward the strongest possible outcome.
Project proposals will be jointly reviewed by INNOCEAN, participating brands, ACFM—the official market of the Busan International Film Festival—and the Producers Guild of Korea (PGK). Selection will consider originality and artistic merit, a fresh interpretation of the brand, production feasibility and budget suitability. Unlike conventional branded films that often rely on a limited director pool or add cinematic elements to advertising, the platform will give brands access to hundreds of global directors, diverse ideas and multiple production plans and budgets for comparison.
